It's time to have some fun blogging. I thought we'd start off the year with a game called 'Guess the Landmark'. What is a landmark? A landmark is a man-made object that is special because it represents something important or a natural object that is easily seen and recognizable.
I have two landmarks that I would like you to try and identify. One is a man-made landmark. The other is a natural landmark. You are to identify the landmarks and then tell me one thing about each one of them.
Post your answers in the comment section of this posting.

Man-made Landmark is the Gastown Steam Clock. It was constructed in 1977 by Ray Saunders, a local clock maker.
Natural Landmark is Cypress Mountains. There is a ski resort up in the mountains.

The Lions are the natural landmark and are part of the North Shore Mountains. The BC Lions Football team is named after these peaks and so is the Lions Gate Bridge.
The Steam Clock is the man-made landmark. It is made to look old but was made in 1977 but made to look like it is from the 19th century. You can tell it is the man-made one because it is a machine.
The man-made landmark is a clock that is run by steam. I've seen it in Vancouver.
The natural landmark is the Lions mountains, they are also known as the twin sisters.

That is the Gastown Steam Clock. The day that I was there to see it was broken. All I heard was a fizzle!

Hi! We think the first picture is the Steam Clock in Gastown which can be found in Downtown Vancouver. The other one is the Cypress Mountain which is a famous ski area in West Vancouver and home of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
