We've probably all heard the message. The Earth's population continues to grow and we continue to use up more and more of the resources while creating more and more garbage. So what can we do about it?
The good thing is that we can all make a difference. It may not seem like much if we put our paper in the recycling 'blue' bin, but if everyone in the world does a little, it makes a big difference.
So...let's take a look at how people are trying to make a difference all over the world.

Lilly is in Japan. She went on a city tour of Wakkanai, Japan. She visited a recycling depot and a solar panel site to conserve energy. Lilly sent us these photos of two Japanese sites that are trying to make a difference.

Sadly in Jakarta where I live now, most people don't care enough about the environment to do something about it. Besides people who want to do that just don't know where to take their recyclables. Normally the scavengers go from neighborhood to neighborhood collecting certain kinds of trash such as plastic, cardboard and metal. For me I always tried to reduce and reuse, for example, reduce buying new cloths :), reuse old papers and bring our own bags when going shopping.
Forgot to say that, I use salvageable junks like cans, bottles, boxes, milk containers and paper plates to create into new toys. :)
My favourite part was watching all the cans get squished!!!!!

Where I live in Vancouver there are a lot of recycling places. There are 2 recycling depots, a wood recycling center for old wood to be reused. There is also metal recycling on Mitchel Island. I give my clothes to my cousins when they get too small. I keep all kinds of scrap papers and things to make crafts out of. It's importand to keep our area clean and the environment clean.

In Germany, there are lots of solar panels. Almost every house or garage has one. And there are giant windmills everywhere on the farm fields that make electricity form the wind. At home, I can see from my window in my bedroom, a big garage where the roof is covered with solar panels.
We recycle paper, all plastic, and glass, also metal.
My Mom says they have strict building codes that make sure that the right products are used for saving heat and other things like that. Germany is very protective of the environment. My Mom says the Green Party is actually in the government here.
I reuse old clothing to sew things, boxes and recycled paper and plastic to make things out of like doll houses and furniture for the dolls.
