It's Over---Vancouver's Olympic Experience

It's hard to believe, but the 17-day 2010 Olympic Games are over. There are still the para-Olympics to come, but the major portion of the competition which involved Vancouver, Richmond, and Cypress is finished.

Being a sports' fan, I watched and enjoyed many of the events. Observing the athletes prepare themselves mentally and seeing the focus and determination in their eyes just before they began was fascinating. All those years of training coming down to a peak performance with a separation from other performances of less than a second in many cases---Unbelievable!

It's fabulous that Canada achieved the most gold medals ever in the winter Olympic games. But, there were so many stories and memories to be treasured. For those of you who were in the Vancouver/Whistler area during the past 17 days, what will you remember the most about the Olympic Games of 2010? If you are abroad, was there any mention or discussion or news coverage about the Olympics where you are?

Dylan - I will always remember the most how Canada won gold in Men’s AND Women’s Hockey! It was awesome how we did that. I also love how I got to go to the torch and the cauldron. One of the major things of the Olympics NO one will forget was the Olympic Flame. What was your thing you will always remember?

I will always remember going to Whistler with my cousins and seeing the sights and sounds. Also, Canada won the most gold medals in this Winter Olympics.

I am a little sad that the games are over. I will mostly remember the opening and closing ceremonies. Also, I have my olympic ID card with my picture on it to have as a keepsake.

I found the buses unbelievably crowded.

I watched some of the 2010 Olympic games from the TV. But I got to see Denis Ten, a 16 year old Kazakh figure skater, who did his training in Prince George before he went to the Olympics.

I have been in Asia travelling and there wasn't very much mention of the Olympic games here. I think this is because they don't have snow or cold winters here so people don't do winter sports.

I'm travelling in Mexico right now. But there are some pretty good news of the Olympic games. We saw hockey, skiing, figure skating, a bit of curling, and ski jumping. I don't think I will remember much of these Olympics because I don't have anything to remind me - except my Olympic mascots.
